The role involves supervising the Air Imports Team to ensure all day-to-day operations and KPIs are met efficiently and promptly across every account. Full Job Description

The Air Import Supervisor plays a key leadership role in managing the Air Imports Team to ensure all daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will oversee the full end-to-end import process for client shipments, from initial coordination through customs clearance to final delivery, while driving performance against KPIs, maintaining strict compliance with UK/EU customs regulations, and supporting the team through coaching, motivation, and hands-on assistance. This includes managing billing, costing, paperwork flow, agent and overseas partner relationships, and acting as the main escalation point for the department. The position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to motivate a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while also deputising for the Air Manager when needed and promoting high standards of quality, customer service, health and safety, and regulatory adherence.



Requirements:

- Minimum 3 years' previous experience in an air import coordinator or similar role

- Specialised knowledge of customs regulations and procedures (UK/EU)

- GCSE English and Maths (grade A-C or 5-9 equivalent)

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks effectively

- Advanced problem-solving skills and tenacity

- Good networking ability and relationship-building skills

- Team builder and team worker mindset

- Professional certification in customs or related field (desirable)

- Strong command of the English language

- Good physical health, vision, hearing, and mobility to meet the demands of the role

- Reliable ability to attend the office for specified working hours

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Supervise the Air Imports Team to meet daily criteria, KPIs, and account-specific requirements efficiently

- Oversee billing, charging, costing, movement of goods/consignments, and paperwork flow to achieve fast customs clearances and timely deliveries

- Guide and assist the team through the complete import process for all shipments, start to finish

- Liaise with overseas offices, partners, and agents to build and maintain strong working relationships

- Ensure smooth department operations, provide support where needed, and act as the primary point of contact/escalation

- Motivate and engage the team through regular communication, shared goals, coaching, training, and performance management

- Produce daily reports on live imports to minimise unnecessary storage costs

- Monitor internal systems and reports to track KPIs and highlight issues to the team

- Ensure full compliance with UK/EU customs regulations and stay up to date on all regulatory changes

- Accurately transpose customs declaration information into brokerage systems

- Correspond with customs and government agencies in a timely manner

- Manage deferment account checks, FAS requests, quotas, tariffs, trade agreements, and HMRC regulations

- Cost jobs to maximise profitability and build effective relationships with customs authorities

- Enforce company policies, promote quality and customer service standards, and resolve issues proactively

- Deputise for the Air Manager at weekly operations meetings as required

- Manage deadlines, negotiate when necessary, and handle challenging situations to meet timescales

- Coach and train team members, monitor performance, and provide feedback/discipline as needed

- Promote health and safety, statutory requirements, and good customer service at all times

- Undertake personal development and any other reasonable duties as directed by management
