Senior Operations Manager – 13 k sq ft Warehouse Hub  

Shropshire (On-site) | £42–45 k + bonus + rapid-growth equity

Job summary:

A fast growing, design led home and living group operating both direct to consumer and wholesale channels seeks an experienced Senior Operations Manager to own end-to-end warehouse and logistics from its 13,000 sq ft, 1,400-pallet hub in Shropshire.

Key responsibilities:

• Operational excellence: deliver ≥98 % inventory accuracy, order turnaround, cost-per-unit, safety and OTIF targets; drive Lean, 5S and Six Sigma initiatives to support 2–3× annual volume growth.  

• Capacity & CAPEX planning for seasonal peaks and new product launches; build scalable SOPs, SLAs and dashboards.  

• People leadership: manage, coach and develop supervisors, leads and associates (perm & temp); oversee full staffing lifecycle; embed zero-incident safety culture.  

• Quality & returns: ensure inbound QC, outbound accuracy and returns grading maximise sell-through and customer satisfaction.  

• Cross-functional collaboration: partner with sourcing, finance and tech on automation, WMS upgrades and AI-driven QC pilots.

Essential requirements:  

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or related field.  

• 7+ years’ management experience in warehouse, fulfilment, 3PL or high-volume manufacturing.  

• Proven record of delivering KPI improvements and cost savings.  

• Demonstrated leadership of managers and frontline teams with strong coaching skills.  

• Advanced Excel/data skills and clear communication at all levels.

Preferred:

• MBA or master’s.  

• Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.  

• E-commerce or B2B logistics scale-up experience.  

• 3PL and carrier contract negotiation know-how.

Year-1 success metrics:  

• ≥98 % inventory accuracy with same-day dispatch SLAs.  

• Order-to-dispatch cycle time reduced >20 %.  

• Zero lost-time accidents.  

• Top-quartile team engagement; turnover below industry average.  

• Smooth scaling to 2× volume without service degradation.
